Annual Pirith Chanting’ Ceremony at SLAF Batticaloa

An all-night ‘Pirith Chanting’ ceremony was organised to commemorate personnel of the SLAF who made the supreme sacrifice and are still missing in action, to invoke blessings on the Commander of the Air Force and all serving members in the Air Force and their families. This ceremony was held at SLAF Station Batticaloa on 12 January 2018 night followed by an alms giving for 18 Venerable Maha Sangha on 13 January 2018.
The ‘Reliquary’ (Karanduwa) was taken to SLAF Station Batticaloa in a colourful procession and placed in the ‘Pirith Mandapa’ by the Commanding Officer Wing Commander Sanjaya Vithana. Subsequently the all-night pirith chanting commenced and alms giving was accorded to the Venerable Maha Sangha.
Officers, Other ranks and Civilian Staff participated at the all-night Pirith Chanting Ceremony and the Alms Giving.
