Prizes and a Helicopter Ride for winners of the “Guwan Siththara” All Island Art Competition

The Prize Giving Ceremony of the SLAF the “Guwan Siththara” All Island Art competition was held at Air Force Headquarters today (7th April 2018) under the patronage of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy.
Fifteen (15) children who were adjudged winners in the Primary, Junior and Senior Student categories attended the Prize Giving Ceremony which was conducted at the office of the Commander. These winners were chosen out of over 25,000 participants from all corners of the island. The children received their prizes and certificates from the Commander and the first of each category received a cash prize of Rs. 100,000.00 while the second and third place winners received cash prizes of Rs. 50,000.00 and Rs. 25,000.00 respectively.
The winners were also treated to an unforgettable memory in the form of a helicopter ride on an Air Force MI-17 Helicopter from Colombo to Rathmalana Air Base. On arrival in Ratmalana the children were taken on a tour of the Air Force Museum as well. The winners left the Air Force premises with a day filled with unforgettable experiences in their hearts and minds.
This event was organized by Air Commodore Janaka Amarasinghe, the Chief Recruiting Officer of the SLAF and for supported by the Command Development Project Officer of the SLAF, Air Commodore Amal Wimalarathne and the Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Colombo, Air Commodore Waruna Gunawaradana.
