SLAF War Heroes Commemoration Ceremony 2018

Even as it strides ahead to meet the security challenges of the future, being ever mindful that it is able to look back on having fulfilled its role of securing the nation in the past because of the sacrifices of a few, the SLAF took the time to pay tribute to all Officers and Airmen who lay down their lives in the name of Nation and Service, at a grand ceremony graced by the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy, today, the 3rd of July 2018.
Chief of Staff of the SLAF Air Vice Marshal Sumangala Dias, members of the Air Force Board of Management, Senior Officers and a cross section of the other ranks attended the ceremony which was held at the Sri Lanka Air Force War Heroes Monument at the SLAF Trade Training School Ekala.
The Commander laid the first wreath followed by a Former Commander of the Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Walter Fernando. Chief of Staff of the SLAF, Air Vice Marshal Sumangala Dias followed by the Air Force Board of Management, representatives of all ranks and Spouses and children of the SLAF war heroes also joined in the tribute by laying wreaths and flowers at the monument.
