SLAF Assists in Dousing Fire at Pelawatte

The Sri Lanka Air Force deployed a Bell 212 Helicopter with Bambi bucket and Fire Vehicles with Fire Fighting Crews to assist in dousing the fire that broke out at the Cool Planet Building in Pelawatte, Battaramulla.
The fire had broken out at around 11 a.m. and the crew of Bell 212 helicopter battled the fire with the aid of its under slung ‘Bambi bucket’ flying 17 consecutive sorties and assisted in halting the spread of the raging fire to nearby buildings.
Squadron Leader MDA Dodangoda lead the Helicopter as the Captain Pilot while the Co-Pilot was Squadron Leader DR Randunuge, Sergeant Pushpakumara SE provided technical support for the Bambi bucket operation while Gunners, Corporal Sumal KT and Leading Aircraftman Chathuranga T assisted as air crew members.
