Air Tattoo Declared open by His Excellency the President

Sri Lanka Air Force 68th Anniversary Air Tattoo 2019, the air show and the educational exhibition was declared open by His Excellency the President, Maithripala Sirisena today (2 March 2019) on the invitation by the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy at SLAF Base Hingurakgoda. The Chief of Staff of the SLAF Air Vice Marshal Sumangala Dias, Chairman Organizing Committee SLAF 68th Anniversary Air Tattoo, Air Vice Marshal SK Pathirana, Members of the Air Force Board of Management as well as Senior Officers of the SLAF, Officers and other ranks from Hingurakgoda were present to witness the grand opening. The public has also turned up in their numbers to witness this grand display and exhibition of Air Power at Hingurakgoda.
The 68th Anniversary Air Tattoo will showcase the SLAF's military proficiency as well as her capabilities to handle its role in the national and regional landscape. It will showcase multipurpose air assets in her inventory and demonstrate to the public its capabilities in offensive roles, in providing humanitarian assistance in times of natural and man-made disasters as well as in helping to stabilize and shape the international landscape. Further, for the first time in the history of the SLAF, the newly formed “Blue Eagles” Aerobatics Display Team will perform for the general public and showcase the exceptional flying capabilities.
The Chief Guest paid a visit to each and every exhibit and also looked over the facilities before the others to make sure everything was in perfect order. A large number of school students were first to get the opportunity to witness the exhibition where they were educated in aspects aeronautics and others.
Furthermore, a Fly Past, Aerobatic Displays, a Parachute Display, a Display by Regimental Special Forces, an Air Dog Show, a Band and Drill Display, a Cultural Show and a Musical Extravaganza will add glamor to the exciting line up of the tattoo. The day's proceedings started at 10.30 am and will conclude at mid night and entrance will be Free of Charge for the public.
The 68th Anniversary Air Tattoo will continue on 3rd, 4th 5th and 6th of March 2019 and will showcase stalls from various units and formations of the Air Force coupled with a Kiddies Play area and food stalls.
