Responding to a request made by the Disaster Management Centre Colombo Disaster Assistance Reaction Team (DAR) of No. 42 Regiment Wing SLAF Station Mirigama comprising of 35 men lead by Squadron Leader Prabath Madahapola along with the Sri Lanka Army successfully doused a fire in the Bothale Forest Reserve, Mirigama yesterday (23 February 2020).

Information regarding the fire had been given by the DMTC Colombo at around 1315hrs and as per the instructions given by the Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Mirigama Group Captain Nipuna Thanippuliarachchi the DAR team rushed to the location where they were able to douse the fire completely after a tiring two hour effort.
