SLAF Modifies Homagama General Hospital Ward to Treat COVID-19 Patients

On a request received from the Homagama General Hospital, a team of civil engineering personnel from the Civil Engineering Wing (CEW) at SLAF Base Katunayake were deployed to modify Ward No 1 of the Hospital in order to be used to treat COVID-19 suspected patients.
On the instructions of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sumangala Dias and under the guidance of the Directorate of Civil Engineering of the SLAF team of engineering personnel comprising of an Officer and 10 Airmen completed the modification of the ward within a short period less than 3 days.
The funding for the project was provided by well-wishers in the Homagama Area while the SLAF provided the required manpower and engineering expertise to complete the project within a very short time.
