SLAF CLINCHES 2ND IN MEN’S AND WOMEN’S CYCLING ON EXPRESS WAY

The first ever Cycle Race on an expressway flagged off today (14 January 2022) at Meerigama Highway entrance.

The SLAF cyclists, Leading Aircraftman Sanju Deemantha and Leading Aircraftwoman Nimalka Chamodini, clinched 2nd in both Men’s and Women’s Races respectively. The race covered the distance of 80 km from Meerigama to Kurunegala towards the expressway which made a novel experience for the cyclists. The Cycle Race conducted by Sri Lankan Cycling Federation in associated with Ministry of Youth and Sports and Ministry of Highways.

The cyclists represented over 30 sports clubs including Tri forces took part in this event.

The Awarding Ceremony will be held tomorrow (15 January 2022) at the auspicious Opening Ceremony of Meerigama to Kurunegala Highway by the President His Excellency Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Hon. Mahinda Rajapaksa as Chief Guests.
