The SLAF Women’s Basketball team emerged victorious with a 39-26 triumph over the SL Navy Women’s Basketball team during the final of the 12th Defence Services Basketball Championship 2023 held at the Army Physical Training Indoor Stadium, Sri Lanka Army Cantonment Panagoda, on 25 August 2023. The SLAF women’s team secured this title for the second consecutive year.

The grand finals and the awards ceremony were held in the graceful presence of the Chairman of Army Basketball, Major General WMRWWAVJB Wanigasekara.

The finals were witnessed by the Deputy Chief of Staff and the Chairman of SLAF Basketball, Air Vice Marshal TADR Senanayake, Secretary of SLAF Basketball Wing Commander HKH Dias, members of the Air Force Sports Council, senior officers and other ranks. Furthermore, the Deputy Chief of Staff was also present at the awards ceremony and awarded the trophies and certificates to the runner-up teams.

Brilliant sportsmanship and skills were displayed during the finals by Flying Officer WADMS Malsha, who was adjudicated as the ‘Best Player’ in the Women’s category.
