SLAF COMMANDER ATTENDS CONFERMENT CEREMONY AT MALWATTA TEMPLE

In recognition and appreciation of the noble and exceptional service rendered to the nation and Buddhism in the country, a significant religious ceremony took place yesterday (12 February 2024) at the historic Higher Ordination Hall premises of Malwathu Temple in Kandy.
The event was organized to bestow the title of 'Pradhana Sanghanayake’ of the ‘Uthuru Madyama Dedisawa’ (Northern and Central) upon the Most Venerable Eethalawetunuwewe Gnanathilaka Thero, the Chief Incumbent of the Rathnamali Maha Stupa Temple, Honorable Secretary to the Maha Vihara Sanga Sabha, and Chancellor of the Rajarata University.
This ceremony marked a significant milestone in the religious journey of the Most Venerable Eethalawetunuwewe Gnanathilaka Thero and symbolized recognition for the service rendered to Sri Lankan Buddhism and society at large.
The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa attended the religious ceremony upon the invitation extended by the Most Venerable Eethalawetunuwewe Gnanathilaka Thero. The event was also attended the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Chief of Defence Staff, Commanders of the Army and Navy, senior government officials, senior military officers and numerous devotees.
