SLAF COMMANDER ATTENDS ANZAC DAY DAWN SERVICE IN COLOMBO

The ANZAC (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) Day, held today (25 April 2024) at the Commonwealth War Graves, Liveramentu Cemetery in Colombo. The occasion was honoured by the presence of Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa, Commander of the Air Force, who attended at the invitation of the Australian High Commissioner, His Excellency Paul Stephens and the New Zealand Charge de Affairs, Mr. Andrew Traveller.

ANZAC Day, observed annually on  25th April, commemorates the landing of Australian and New Zealand forces at Gallipoli during World War I. This day is a moment of remembrance and reflection, paying tribute to the courage and sacrifice of ANZAC soldiers, both past and present.

The occasion was attended by the  presence of diplomats, defence advisors, Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Navy, senior officers from the tri-services,  local and foreign veterans and a multitude of other distinguished invitees.
