COMMANDER’S INSPECTION AT SLAF STATION MIRIGAMA

The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa, conducted the annual Commander’s Inspection at SLAF Station Mirigama today (04 October 2024).
During the inspection, the Commander visited several key areas, including the Station Headquarters, the Air Defence Command and Control Centre, the Officer’s Mess and various other sections of the Station. The inspection concluded with an All Ranks Lunch held at the Airmen’s Mess.
As part of the inspection, several infrastructure improvements were completed at the Station. These included the installation of a water purification system for general use, the extension of the microwave antenna, renovations and improvements to billets and office complexes, and the refurbishment of roof ceilings at the Station Headquarters and social clubs.
At the conclusion of the inspection, the Commander awarded Certificates of Commendation to two individuals in recognition of their exceptional service.

The Commander also addressed all ranks and civilian employees during his visit. In his speech, he highlighted the strategic importance of the Air Defence Command and Control Centre, emphasizing its critical role as the nerve centre of National Air Defence. He discussed future initiatives aimed at enhancing the welfare of SLAF personnel, stressing the importance of financial management and warning against the risks of online gambling and loan scams.
In closing, the Commander commended the Commanding Officer and his team for their dedication and efforts in maintaining the high standards expected at a Commander’s Inspection.
