SLAF GOLFERS SHINE AT THE 133RD CEAT SRI LANKA OPEN AMATEUR GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP

The 133rd CEAT Sri Lanka Open Amateur Golf Championship, a prestigious event in the Sri Lankan golfing calendar, was held at the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC) from 4th to 10th November 2024. The tournament witnessed the participation of 77 skilled golfers, including players from neighbouring countries, Pakistan and India, adding to the competitive spirit of the championship.
Among the participants, the following three exceptional golfers from the SLAF, who delivered commendable performances, ensuring all were selected for the cut-off round.

Corporal Wijenayake GWAJ
Corporal Kumara PDSU
Adding a historic milestone to SLAF Golf, the captain of the SLAF Golf Team, Corporal Kumara PDSU played under the National Golf Team during the event. Additionally, Corporal Wijenayake GWAJ was an integral member of the championship winning team, which clinched the coveted ‘Douglas Senanayake Trophy' and brought home the gold medal.
To honour their exceptional achievements, the three golfers called on the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa, at Air Force Headquarters today (18 November 2024). During the meeting, the Commander extended his heartfelt congratulations to the players for their contributions to elevating SLAF’s reputation in the national golf arena.
The event was attended by Chairman of Air Force Golf, Air Commodore Asela Jayasekara, Secretary of the Air Force Sports Council, Group Captain Eranda Geeganage and Secretary of Air Force Golf, Wing Commander Thushan Fernando.
