Badge
Eligibility: Have successfully completed both
Basic and Advance Flying Training conducted by the SLAF or have
successfully completed both Basic and Advanced Flying conducted by a
Military Academy abroad.
Description- Embroidered on black background
- Wings
to be white colour with the letters "Sri Lanka" (in sinhala) in the
center, surrounded by laurel wreath and surmounted by a National Emblem.
Laurel wreath to be in brown colour. National Emblem and the letters
"Sri Lanka" (in sinhala) to be in white.
- The gap between badges and the inner design of the badges is to be 1/10". The length and the breadth of the badge to be 4" x 2"
- Pilot Badge (miniature) worn with the mess kit jacket to be half size, gold embroidered on black background.
Wearing- When
entitled to wear the Pilot Badge, it is to be worn on the left breast
of the uniform shirt/jacket, immediately and centrally above the top of
the breast pocket and in a corresponding position on the mess kit
jacket.

Air Navigator Badge
Eligibility:
Have successfully completed a formal navigator course conducted by the SLAF or at a Military Institution abroad.
Flight Engineer

Eligibility:
Have successfully completed a formal Flight Engineer course as specified by AFHQ and logging after specific no of flying hours.

roundel, surrounded by laurel wreath. Laurel wreath to be in brown

- Engineer Badge (miniature) worn with the mess kit jacket is to be half size, gold embroidered on black background.

course of training in Air Communication as specified by AFHQ and logging

Eligibility:
Have successfully completed a Commando Course/RSF Course conducted by SLAF, SL Army or by a Military Establishment abroad.
Explosive Ordinance Disposal (E.O.D.)
Badge
Eligibility:
Have successfully completed an Explosive Ordinance
Disposal conducted by SLAF or have successfully completed an EOD course
conducted by a recognized institute abroad/locally.
Fighter Controller Badge
Eligibility:
Have successfully completed a Fighter Controllers Course at a military establishment, either locally or overseas.
Flight Medical Officer's
Badge
Eligibility:
Have successfully completed the Primary Aerospace Medicine Course in an establishment approved by the SLAF.
Description- The badge depicts central design of brown staff and gold serpents flanked by on left white wing embroidered on black background.
- Length
and breadth of the badge are to be 1 1/2" x 1 3/4". The Gap between the
edges and inner design of the badge are to be 1/10".
Wearing- To
be worn on the Right breast of the uniform shirt/jacket, immediately
and centrally above the top of the breast pocket and in corresponding
position on the 1 B Kit.

Aviation Physician
Badge
Eligibility:
The Flight Medical Officers who have completed 05 Yrs and
have successful completed a USAF Advanced Aerospace Medicine Course or
Advanced Aerospace Medicine Training Course of RAF and or possesses a
Diploma in Aviation Medicine.
Description- The badge depicts pair of wings on either side of the brown staff and gold serpents.
- Length and breadth is the same as the Flight Medical Officer badge.
Wearing- To
be worn on the Right breast of the uniform shirt/jacket, immediately
and centrally above the top of the breast pocket and in corresponding
position on the 1 B Kit
- Half size gold miniature badge embroidered in black background is to be worn on the mess Kit.
Chief Aviation Physician Badge
Eligibility:
Worn by the most Senior Aviation Medical Physician, in the Directorate of Health Services.
Description- The badge depicts pair of wings on either side of the brown staff and gold serpents with a star on the staff.
- Length and breadth is the same as the Flight Medical Officer badge.
Wearing- To
be worn on the Right breast of the uniform shirt/jacket, immediately
and centrally above the top of the breast pocket and in corresponding
position on the 1 B Kit

UAV Pilot
Badge
Eligibility:
Have successfully completed External Pilot and Internal
Pilot course locally or overseas and having logged 15 hrs for External
Pilot and 50 hrs for Internal Pilot will be eligible to wear the badge.
Wearing

Land Based Air
Defence
Eligibility:
Have successfully completed an Air Defence course in
military establishment abroad or should have successfully completed a
locally conducted LBAD course or missile course which is approved by
AFHQ and should have served minimum of two years in the Land Based Air
Defence Wing.
Qualified Dental Technician Badge
Eligibility:
Have successfully completed the dental assistance course
at dental auxiliary training school at University of Peradeniya, Sri
Lanka.
Qualified Dental
Nurse Badge
Eligibility:
Have successfully completed the dental assistance course
at dental auxiliary training school at university of Peradeniya, Sri
Lanka.
SABF (SPECIAL AIRBORNE FORCES) BADGE
Eligibility: Awarded to Officers and Airmen on successful completion of the SABF Course.
AIR BASE DEFENCE AND GROUND COMBAT PROFICIENCY BADGE
Eligibility: Awarded to members of foreignforces who have successfully completed the Air Base Defence and Ground Combat Proficiency Course conducted by the SLAF .
GRADUATE IN FIRE ENGINEERING BADGE
Eligibility: Awarded to Officers and Airmen on successful completion of “Fire Graduate Examination” which is conducted by the ‘Institute of Fire Engineers UK’, and for those who are eligible to use nominal of “GI Fire E(UK)” which is also awarded by the same institute.
BADGE FOR THE AFC BRANCH OFFICERS
Eligibility to Badge ‘A’: Awarded to AFC branch Officers who have fulfilled following qualifications.
VIPP BADGE
Eligibility: Awarded to officer and airmen on successful completion of standard VIPP Course of training conductedby the SABF (SLAF), STF (Police) or other military organizations (local or overseas).
LEGAL OFFICERS BADGE
Eligibility: Awarded to all Officers of the Administrative Legal Branch.
AIR FORCE HEALTH INSPECTORS’ BADGE
Eligibility: Awarded to Officers and Airmen on successful completion of Diploma course of Public Health Inspector ’sconducted by the Ministry of Health or the Advanced Course conducted by the SLAF .
PHYSICAL TRAINING INSTRUCTOR BADGE
Eligibility: Awarded to PTI’s on successful completion of the Physical Training Instructor (PTI) Advance Course conducted by the SLAF.
BADGE FOR THE AFC BRANCH OFFICERS
Eligibility to Badge ‘B’: Awarded to AFC branch Officers who have fulfilled following qualifications.
NURSING BADGE
Eligibility: Should have successfully completed the Nursing Course conducted by SLAF authorized Nursing Training Institute in Sri Lanka and have qualified to earn the badge as specified by the respective institution.
SNIPER BADGE
Eligibility: Awarded to Officers and Airmen on successful completion of Standard Sniper Course conducted by a recognized SLAF, local or foreignSniper Training Institute.
BADGE FOR THE CBRNE FIRST RESPONDERS
Eligibility: Awarded to Officers and Airmen on successful completion of Basic and Advanced CBRNE Courses conducted by the SLAF.
QUALIFIED DRILL INSTRUCTOR BADGE
Eligibility: Awarded to Officers and Airmen on successful completion of Qualified Drill Instructor (QDI) Course conducted by the SLAF.
STAFF QUALIFIED INSTRUCTOR BADGE
Eligibility: All Officers who have successfully completed and obtained ‘Pass Staff College’ status from a recognizedDefence Services/Army/Navy/Air Force Staff College in Sri Lanka or abroad and have completed minimum of one yearinstructional tenure as Directing Staff at the Defence Services Command and Staff College are entitled to wearthis prestigious insignia.
STAFF QUALIFIED BADGE
Eligibility: All Officers who have successfully completed and obtained ‘Pass Staff College’ status from a recognizedDefence Services/Army/Navy/Air Force Staff College in Sri Lanka or abroad are qualified to wear this insignia.
