The SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, in collaboration with the FEMS team of Hemas Holdings PLC, organized a workshop aimed at raising awareness and knowledge regarding sanitary hygiene for schoolgirls from low-income families in the Hingurakgoda area. This programme took place at Vijayapura Maha Vidyalaya and Ambagaswewa Maha Vidyalaya in Hingurakgoda yesterday (13 March 2024) under the gracious participation of the Chairperson of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Enoka Rajapaksa and senior members of the Seva Vanitha Unit. The Regional Educational Director and Chief Sanganayaka of the North Central Province, Ven. Siriketha Siri Seevali Thero, coordinated this event.
More than 800 schoolgirls from five schools actively engaged in this programme and a generous donation of sanitary materials was provided to them with the kind support of Ms. Shehani Piyasena, facilitated through the "Husma" plan. Noteworthy attendees included the Base Commander of SLAF Base Hingurakgoda, Air Commodore Dinesh Jayaweera, the President of the Seva Vanitha Unit at SLAF Base Hingurakgoda, Mrs. Dilani Sureka Jayaweera, members of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, as well as principals, teachers and students.
