By the directives of the Chairperson of the Air Force Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Enoka Rajapaksa, a special donation programme was conducted on 19 March 2024, aimed at providing mobility aids to deserving family members of service personnel and civil staff of the SLAF.
An adjustable walker was generously donated for the 04-year-old son of Leading Aircraftsman Rathnayake AMSS, with the kind contribution made by Mrs. Pavithri De Silva. Furthermore, a walker was provided for the 73-year-old mother of Sergeant Samarakoon.
Wheelchair donations were extended to the father of Squadron Leader Darsha Kumarihamy. Additionally, an air mattress was donated for Leading Aircraftman Kumara, who was medically discharged from service in 2019 due to an accident he faced in 2014. Stationery items were also provided for his son, who is currently studying in grade 10.
A hearing aid equipment worth Rs. 1,200,000.00, generously donated by Mr. Chaminda Gamaethige, was handed over to Mr. R. Sujith Perera. This equipment is intended for Mr. Perera's 20-year-old daughter, who was carefully selected for this donation following a thorough examination of her medical history and a compatibility test with the hearing aid.
