The Chairperson of Sri Lanka Air Force Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Enoka Rajapaksa, visited the “Senehasa” Education Resource Research and Information Centre today (12 June 2024) upon an invitation received by this institute.
The “Senehasa” Education Resource Research and Information Centre is a childcare institution that is established under the Ministry of Defence and Ranaviru Seva Authority with the prime purpose of caring for and supporting the needs, dreams and aspirations of children with special needs. This institute provides daytime special care for children of service and civil employees of tri-services, the Sri Lanka Police Department and the Civil Security Department.
This Centre provides individualized services to children, including speech and language therapy, autism management, occupational therapy, water therapy and aesthetic therapy. It also provides assistance to children via physical medicine and rehabilitation unit, an early intervention unit, an assistive aids and information technology unit, a multi-sensory approach unit, a paediatric dental unit, a daily living skills training unit, a vocational training unit and a research methodology and project unit.
During this visit, the Chairperson observed the classrooms and therapy units while witnessing the treatment procedures of this institute. Furthermore, these children were given the opportunity to communicate and openly share their feelings with the Chairperson. The event concluded with the awarding of gifts and snacks for children, making yet another special day in their lives.
