EYE CLINIC AND FREE DISTRIBUTION OF READING GLASSES AT SLAF STATION PALAVI

An Eye Clinic was held at the Dangahawala Abesekarama Temple in the Kottukachchiya-Putalam area on 09 July 2024, offering free distribution of reading glasses to those in need. This community service project was organized under the guidance and assistance of Mrs. Enoka Rajapaksa, Chairperson of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit and included the generous distribution of 150 reading glasses.

The eye clinic was launched in collaboration with SLAF Station Palavi and the Chief Incumbent of Dangahawala Abesekarama Temple, Ginimanne Saranankara Thero. The event was conducted by Group Captain (Dr.) A. Jayasekara, Consultant Eye Surgeon at SLAF and medical staff from the Directorate of Health Services. The Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Palavi, Group Captain Prabath Alexander, attended the event as the chief guest.

The clinic concluded successfully with the registration of 191 patients, the distribution of 150 pairs of reading glasses and the identification of 17 individuals requiring contact lenses, who will be referred for further medical consultation in due course.
