SLAF Base Katunayaka 'Bak Maha Ulela' 2010

The Bak Maha Ulela (Traditional Sinhala/Tamil New Year Festival) of Sri Lanka Air Force Base Katunayaka was held on the 12th of April 2010.
Twenty one events took place throughout the festival including Cycle Race, Marathons, children’s & ladies games and other traditional New Year Games.

Avurudu Gammanaya
The most attractive feature of the festival was undoubtedly the “Avurudu Gammanaya” organized by the Sri Lanka Air Force band which included a variety of activities including "Arachchila with his traditional Hamine", Jana Gee (folk songs), Raban playing and many other traditional activities.
The event was conducted under the patronage of Base Commander of Sri Lanka Air Force Base Katunayaka, Air Commodore Ranil Gurusinghe and at the end of the event valuable prizes were awarded to the winners.
Formation Commanding Officers, families of all ranks and civilians took part in the event.
