SLAF Celebrates Avurudu Amidst the Clouds at Pidurutalagala

The traditional ‘Sinhala Hindu Aluth Avurudu’ celebration was held on 6 April 2019 with much enthusiasm and fellowship at SLAF Station Pidurutalagala which is the tallest mountain peak of Sri Lanka. The event was conducted under the patronage of the Commanding Officer, Wing Commander DSC Fernando.

A range of traditional Avurudu games were organized during colourful event including climbing of the ‘Lissana Gasa’ erected on highest place in the island, ‘Kana Mutti’ and Tug-of-War. All station personal and their families highly enjoyed during the event.  Further kids of the Bishop Daniel Children’s Home at Nuwara Eliya and the number of school children of the area were also given an opportunity to join the event.   

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
