The President of the Democratic Socialist  Republic of Sri Lanka, His Excellency Maithripala Sirisena in his capacity as the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces has promoted Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy to the four star rank of Air Chief Marshal with effect from today (28th May 2019).

Air Chief Marshal Kapila Jayampathy took over as the 16th Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force on 12 September 2016. He is scheduled to relinquish command tomorrow at Air Force Headquarters.
