Commander's Inspection of SLAF Station Palavi

The Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Sumangala Dias conducted the Commander’s Inspection at SLAF Station Palavi today (02 October 2019). The Commanding Officer, Group Captain Nishantha Priyadarshana received the Commander and accorded a guard of honour.

Commander inspected the Station premises and during the course of inspection Commander declared open a newly constructed living in block at the Officers’ Mess. Further, Corporal Neththikumara NKDS (Ops Ground III) performing duties at the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Training School was awarded with Certificate of Commendation in appreciation of the commendable service he rendered towards the development of the Training School and the Station.

Addressing all personnel of the station Commander stressed the strategic importance of the station and mentioned the evolution of the station since it was established by the Royal Navy and Air Force. Further the Commander emphasized the importance of maintaining the personal discipline, maintain a higher level of Comradeship and perform duties by sticking to the directives given by Civil and Air Force Laws. The Commander also joined in the customary All Ranks Lunch at the Airmens’ Mess with a cross section of Officers, Airmen, Airwomen and Civilian staff.

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
