SLAF Station Ampara Celebrates 30th Anniversary

SLAF Station Ampara celebrated its’ 30th Anniversary yesterday (25th November 2019). The celebrations began with Community Service Programs of cleaning and colour washing of the General Hospital at Padiyathalawa, cleaning and partitioning of classrooms of the Karangawa School and distribution of books for schoolchildren. Simultaneously, an All- Night “Pirith Chanting” Ceremony and a Blood Donation Campaign were held to mark the anniversary.
The Working Parade was reviewed by the Commanding Officer, Group Captain PSN Fernando. Addressing the gathering, the Commanding Officer spoke on the history of the Station, its contributions to the Humanitarian Operation, actions taken during natural disasters, future challenges and its responsibilities towards the role and task of the SLAF. Further, he thanked all who contributed to uplift the standards of the Station.
An Elle Tournament and a Netball Tournament were conducted with the participation of service personnel and the civil staff of the Station followed by an All Ranks Lunch.
