The Outgoing Commanding Officer, Group Captain SD Jayaweera RWP and Bar, RSP and two Bars, USP, MSc (MOA), BSc (Def Stu), psc, qfi handed over duties to Group Captain AV Jayasekera WWV and Bar, RWP, RSP and two Bars, USP, psc, qfi. The Ceremonial Handing Over/ Taking Over Parade took place at the Station Parade Square today (24 February 2020).

The outgoing Commanding Officer took over the Command of the Station on 1 February 2018 and had served at the position for more than two years. During his tenure he has taken many steps to develop the Station as well as to improve facilities of Officers and Airmen/ Airwomen.

The outgoing Commanding Officer thanked all personnel of SLAF Station Palaly for the support they extended to him during his tenure as the Commanding Officer and wished all a successful future.

The new Commanding Officer, Group Captain AV Jayasekera was previously performing duties at the Directorate of Training as the Staff Officer Training 1. He is a Qualified Flying Instructor and an experienced Fighter Pilot who has flown aircraft such as K-8, F-7, Kfir and Mig-27.
