The Change of Command at SLAF Base Vavuniya was held today (22 July 2022) where Group Captain SAPT Piyaratne RSP, USP, MMS (Mil Com-PRC), BSc (Def Stu) in Mgt (Hons), psc handed over the command to Group Captain PN Gunathilake WWV and Bar, RWP, RSP, USP, MMS (Mil Com), MSc (Strat Stu), Pg Dip (Def Mgt), fawc, psc, qfi.

Group Captain PN Gunathilake previously held the appointment as Commanding Officer, No 8 Tactical Transport Squadron before being appointed as the Base Commander, Vavuniya. The outgoing Base Commander, Group Captain SAPT Piyaratne will be preceding for an overseas training.
