NO. 4 VVIP/VIP HELICOPTER SQUADRON CELEBRATES 59TH ANNIVERSARY

No. 4 VVIP/VIP Helicopter Squadron of the SLAF celebrated its 59th anniversary today (01 June 2024). The anniversary commenced with the customary working parade, with the participation of all the squadron personnel. Further, a community service project was carried out by assisting with the renovation work of the Sarvodaya Suwasetha Leela Jayasekara Child Development Centre at Rawathawatta, Moratuwa.
Founded in 1965 as a separate Flight, today the No. 4 Helicopter Squadron has grown in professionalism and reputation as one of the most experienced operational Squadrons of the Sri Lanka Air Force. While stretching its wings multi-directionally, No. 4 Squadron operates its platforms in various configurations and modes in order to fulfil the nation’s quest.
No. 4 Helicopter Squadron serves with the utmost pride while engaging in the air transportation of local and foreign dignitaries by using its variants of Bell 212, 412/412EP and Mi-171E helicopters. In addition to that, the Squadron is capable of other operational roles such as Search and Rescue, Casualty Evacuations, Medical Assistance, Disaster Relief Operations, Reconnaissance Flights, Fire Fighting Operations, etc.
During its journey through 59 years of dedicated service to the nation, it is noteworthy to mention the devotion of the Squadron personnel, including past serving members, in reaching many milestones that have been accomplished as per the expectations of SLAF.
