RSF WING AT SLAF STATION MORAWEWA CELEBRATES 21ST ANNIVERSARY

Regiment Special Forces (RSF) Wing at SLAF Station Morawewa celebrated 21st anniversary yesterday (07 July 2024). The RSF Wing was established as an integral special unit of the SLAF Regiment and it takes up a wide variety of operations, including Air Base Defence and Rescue (ABDR) Operations, Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR), Search and Rescue (SAR) Operations, Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) Operations, Special Combat Operations, Air Rapid Raid Operations and conducting specialized training.

The formation day celebrations commenced with the customary working parade, which was reviewed by the Commanding Officer Regiment Special Force Wing, Wing Commander Sumith Bandara. The Commanding Officer addressed all officers and airmen who contributed to the development of the RSF Wing since its inauguration and extended his gratitude to all the past Commanding Officers, other officers and all other rank personnel. The Commanding Officer also extended his greetings to existing servicemen, expressing appreciation for their dedication and active contribution to the development of the RSF Wing.

The formation day was marked with a shramadana campaign and a donation of essential educational items to the "Revatha Children's Development Centre" at Trincomalee with the participation of Commanding Officer, all officers and other ranks of the Wing. The day's proceedings were concluded with a cricket tournament, which was organized at the station sports ground with the participation of all personnel of the wing.
