Air Force Commander switches on lights at the Gangarama Vesak Kalapaya

On the invitation of the chief priest of the Gangarama temple the most venerable Galaboda Gnanissara Thero, the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Harsha Abeywickrama switched on the lights of the the Gangarama Vesak Kalapaya on the 21st May 2011, the day demarcated for the Air Force.
The guests Minister Lakshman Seneviratna, A.R.M. Abdul Cader, Secretary of Mass media Mr. W.B. Ganegala, provincial Council Secretary Dr. Nihal Jayathilaka and the Commander of the Air Force were accompanied to the “Seema Malakaya” from the Gangarama temple in a ‘Perahara’. The Commander and Minister Lakshman Seneviratna took the main and other reliquaries respectively whilst they were going to Seema Malakaya.
The lighting of the oil lamp by the distinguished guests followed the chanting of ‘Seth Pirith’ by members of the ‘Maha Sangha’. Then prior to witnessing the Bakthi Geetha program Air Marshal Harsha Abeywickrama switched on the lights of the Vesak Kalapaya.
