In the opening encounter of the Caltex rugby Tournament Sri Lanka Air Force rugerittes defeated the Police team by 18 points to 12 at the Katunayake Air Force Grounds yesterday (3rd June 2011).

The Airmen from beginning  until the end kept the lead and the 1st half ended with 08 points to05 in favour of the SLAF. A try by Chanaka Chandimal and a penalty strike by Radika Hettiarachchi brought an early lead with 08 points for SLAF whilst Chanaka Fernando make it 05 for Police with a try.

In the latter half of the game, SLAF players Gayantha Iddamalgoda and Rajitha Sansony  went through the Police defence to touch the opposite end of the ground for 10 points. On behalf of the police Rajitha Kumara made a try and it was converted by Priyantha Ekanayaka bringing 07 points to the Police.
