Student officers of the 55th direct entry batch was commissioned on the 2nd of June 2011,  in a ceremony which was presided over by the commanding officer of the SLAF station Diyatalawa Group Captain Janaka Amarasinghe.

The group consisted of 33 students who were enlisted to the Electrical Engineering, Air Field Construction and Logistics branches, as Pilot Officers, Flying Officers and flight Lieutenants, as per their qualifications.
The batch amply displayed the results of their nearly 3 month training regime which they underwent at the SLAF station in Diyatalawa, at their passing out parade, establishing their worthiness to be commissioned officers of this prestigious organisation.

The kith and kin of the new officers who were no doubt very proud of their sons achievements, were treated to lunch at this passing out parade,
In keeping with tradition the young officers were further treated to a memorable evening to welcome them to the officer community
with a Gala Commissioning Ball which was organised  by the Commanding Officer Group Captain Janaka Amarasinghe, and President Mess Committee Wing Commander Chaminda Wickremaratne together with all other Officers.
