War Against Mosquitoes

Sri Lanka Air Force Station Colombo in collaboration with the Army, Police, Colombo Municipal Council,  the area Health officer Ms Abans ltd along with the assistance of the people launched a dengue prevention campaign in the Slave Island area on the morning of 11th June 2011.

The main focus areas were Stuart Street, Mosque Street and Sinhala Maha Vidyalaya where large numbers of people reside. During the Dengue eradication program, the gutter system, gully system and other areas where mosquitoes can breed were cleaned and sprayed with chemicals to prevent breeding.

This campaign was spearheaded on behalf of the Air Force by the Officer Commanding Sector III Security zone, Wing Commander Vajira Jayawardana.



Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
