Sri Lanka Air Force Unit Batticaloa, under the patronage of the Commanding Officer, Wing Commander Ajith Wawegama celebrated the ‘Poson full moon’ with the participation of all service personnel and the civilians in the close vicinity.

Celebrations commenced in the evening with a Pirith chanting ceremony within the camp premises, under the auspices of Venerable ‘Anpitiya Sumanananda Thero of Batticaloa ‘Sri Mangalaramaya’.

A large model of ‘Mihinthalaya’ symbolizing the arrival Mihindu Maha Thero to Sri Lanka with Buddhism, was constructed in front of the main guard room where civilians of the area could visit without any hindrance. Furthermore a biscuit and cool drinks ‘dansela’ was organized for the people who came to witness the local ‘Mihinthalaya’.
