Commander Visits ‘Singapore Airshow – 2012’

On the invitation of the Chief of Singapore Air Force, Major General Ng Chee Meng, the Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Marshal Harsha Abeywickrama, attended the ‘Singapore Airshow – 2012’ (SA - 2012) held at the Changi Exhibition Centre in Singapore commencing from 12th February 2012. This Airshow is Asia’s largest aerospace and defence event, bringing together senior defence officials and industry leaders from around the world and showcasing the latest technology and innovation in air and land systems.
The Commander, on arrival at the Changi International Airport, was warmly received by a senior Singapore Air Force delegation.
This Exhibition was preceded by the Asia pacific Security Conference (APSEC) on “The Changing Geopolitical Landscape of the Asia Pacific” held at the Raffles City Convention Centre on 13th February 2012 where Singapore’s Minister of State for Defence and Education, Mr. Lawrence Wong, delivered the keynote address. The Exhibition, participated by a host of renowned suppliers of military, naval and aviation products was attended by armed forces Commanders of many countries. The Exhibition was jointly officiated by Singapore’s Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen and Minister for Transport Lui Tuck Yew at the ribbon-cutting ceremony held at the Changi Exhibition Center on 14 February 2012.
During the Exhibition, the Commander interacted with many military leaders from around the world and many trade exhibitors promoting products that are already in service with the SLAF and also exploring innovative products that are potentially useful for the SLAF. The Commander also paid a formal courtesy call on the Chief of Singapore Air Force, Major General Ng Chee Meng. After a cordial discussion on matters of mutual interest, the two Commanders exchanged mementos to mark the occasion.
