The passing out ceremony of the No. 49th Non Commissioned Officers’ Management Course was held at the Non Commissioned Officers’ Management School auditorium of the Sri Lanka Air Force Academy China Bay on 12th March 2012. Air Vice Marshal KVB Jayampathy, the Director of Logistics of the Sri Lanka Air Force graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest.

The prime intention of providing this course is to transform a sound academic and management knowledge while sharpening leadership qualities within the Non Commissioned Officers of the SLAF. The course runs through a well formed syllabus over a period of 11 weeks. The course participants are also taken on an organized study tour to number of selected outside organizations in order to expose them to the various management practices and the means by which different organizations meet them. Physical fitness is also an important part of the curriculum and a regular program of physical training and organized games is included to ensure not only that the course participants maintain their fitness while they participate in the course but also to encourage them to make it a routine part of their lives.

The comprehensive course which is accredited to the University of Rajarata and all Non Commissioned Officers who fulfil the required criteria will be awarded with a Certificate in Management. The batch comprising of 39 Senior Non Commissioned Officers, 45 Junior Non Commissioned Officers, 03 Army Senior Non Commissioned Officers and 02 Naval Petty Officers followed and graduated from this course successfully.

22069 Sergeant Jayawardana WPLP (Account Clerk Specialist I) was placed as the best all-round Senior Non Commissioned Officer category while 27185 Corporal Jayaruwan GA (Clerk General Duties Specialist I) was placed as the best all-round Junior Non Commissioned Officer category.
