It was a prime initiative of the Commander of the Air Force to organize golf tournaments at the Eagles’ Golf Links in view of promoting the game of golf, a precision club and ball game, amongst the members of the SLAF Academy. Thus, the inaugural golf tournament was held at Eagle’s Golf Links, under the guidance of the Commandant of SLAF Academy, Air Commodore SK Pathirana on 11 March 2012.

The tournament kicked off at 0600 hrs with the participation of a number of enthusiastic golfers representing all the sections of the Academy. The challenge was spiced up with water hazards, sand bunkers, roughs and of course doglegs right and left. The golfers, however, showcased extravagant performance throughout the tournament.

Sqn Ldr APUR Dharmasiri secured the highest marks in the tournament and was consequently honoured with the Commandant’s Trophy 2012. Fg Off Upul Gunawardene was placed the second while Wg Cdr Rajeew Kodippili secured the third place in the same tournament. Air Commodore SK Pathirana was placed 1st in the “Putting competition”.
