
Peacock Villa Holiday Home & Airmen Holiday Home Cottages Declared Open

The Commander of the Air Force,
Air Marshal HD Abeywickrama declared open the “Peacock Villa” Officers’
Holiday Home Complex consisting of 9 luxury rooms with dining facility
at SLAF Unit Weerawila and the Airmen Holiday home complex with three
luxury cottages including common dining facility at Wedasiti Kanda,
Katharagama.
Also the Commander commissioned a ‘SAFARI JEEP’ specially modified to visit Yala and Bundala National Parks for the use of both officers and airmen in the SLAF. On the directives of the Commander of the Air Force all these projects were completed within a very short period under the supervision of the Commanding officer, Gp Capt Dilshan Wasage in order to fulfill the vision of the Commander to provide more welfare facilities to both officers and airmen of the SLAF.

On arrival the Commander was greeted by
the Commanding Officer. He proceeded to declare open the Officers’
Holiday Home Complex and commission the new ‘SLAF SAFARI JEEP’. After an
inspection of the ongoing Cafeteria Project the Commander proceeded to
the Airmen Holiday Cottages at Katharagama. Proceedings commenced with
the observance of religious activities and bestowing blessings on the
new holiday cottages.
The Commander declared open two fully furnished cottages and a fully equipped common dining building. On his return the Commander had a tour around the unit and inspected all new developments of the camp with the Commanding Officer. Subsequently he joined all officers for lunch at Officers’ Mess prior to departure from the unit.
