The Defence Services Volleyball team left for Germany on 04 May 2012 to take part in a series of friendly encounters with German club teams on the invitation of the Asian German Sports Exchange Programme.

The team comprises six players from the SLAF, while the Sri Lanka Army and the Navy, both having three players apiece representing the Defence Services team. Corporal Janaka Fernando of the SLAF functions as the coach of the team.
