SLAF Commemorates Vesak Poya Day

Sri Lanka Air Force commemorating "Vesak Poya" day held various religious and traditional activities island wide today (May 5th, 2012), along with the general public of the respective areas.

SLAF Station Colombo
A Vesak Lantern Building and Displaying Content was held at the Rifle Green Grounds in Colombo with the participation of various sectors of the SLAF and their handcrafted Vesak Lanterns. Prizes for the best Vesak Lanterns were awarded by a panel of judges which included Mrs. Roshani Gunatilleke who graced the occasion as chief guest.

A large participation of SLAF personnel & their families were at hand to view colorful display. The Winners of the competition are as follows:

1st Place – 28th Regiment Wing with 97 points for their portrayal of “Nalapana Jathakaya” Display
2nd Place – Signal Section with 92 points for their portrayal of “Dushkara Kriya” Display
3rd Place – SLAF Colombo Police Section for their portrayal of “Buddha Mandapaya” Display
