Annual Commander's Inspection at Sri Lanka Air Force Base Vavuniya

The Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Harsha Abeywickrama conducted the AOC’s inspection at Sri Lanka Air Force Base Vavuniya on the 04th of May 2012.

The Commander was welcomed to the base with a parade commanded by the Base Commander of SLAF Vavuniya Air Commodore Vijitha Gunaratne.

The Commander inspected the three lodger formations No 111 UAV Squadron Commanded by Wing Commander Mohan Balasooriya, No 02 Air Defence Radar Squadron Commanded by Squadron Leader Sumeda Halahakoon, as well as the SLAF Detachment Mamaduwa Commanded by Squadron Leader Prebath Madahapola which was established under the purview of SLAF Base Vavuniya to undertake a recently launched surface mining project. The Commander also declared opened the newly established main Guard Room.

Concluding the AOC’s inspection, the Commander addressed all ranks including the civilian personnel and commended their hard work on uplifting the standards of the base and emphasized need to contribute their best to the Air Force as well as the motherland at all times.

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
