Training on Human Factor in Aviation Maintenance

A two day training programme on
‘Human Factor in Aircraft Maintenance’ was conducted at the SLAF Museum,
Ratmalana by the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka under the
Co-operative Development of Operational Safety and Continuing
Airworthiness Programme – South Asia
(COSCAP-SA).
The objectives of the training programme were
To equip SLAF aircraft maintenance engineers with the
skills necessary to enhance safety, teamwork and efficiency in the
workplace, and therefore, reduce aircraft maintenance errors.
To examine the human role in the chain of events that
causes aviation occurrences and to develop ways to prevent or lessen the
seriousness of the occurrence.
To explore the role of senior personnel
in maintenance error prevention and to give the leaders and mentors of
an organization. insight and tools which allow them to be effective
mentors.
The resource person for the session was Mr. A. Shanmugam,
Regional Airworthiness Expert of COSCAP-SA. Thirty senior engineering
officers from the SLAF participated in the
programme.
