In the recently concluded All Island Inter Club tournaments for 2012 the Air Force tennis team managed to annex both the Division 1 singles and doubles Championships.

The prize-giving ceremony for the all Island inter club singles and doubles Tennis Tournaments was held on 28 June 2012 at 1630 hrs at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association premises. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Sri Lanka Tennis Association President Mr. Iqbal Issac.

In the All Inter club Division 1 singles tournament held recently the Air Force team remained unbeaten and in the finals defeated SSC 2/1 to win its first ever Division 1 Inter club championship.

In the Inter club Division 1 doubles the Air Force Tennis team reached the finals where it beat the SSC tennis team by 2 matches to 1.

What makes this achievement even more creditable is the fact that only did this team wins the Inter Club Div 1 tournament but their second team managed to annex the Inter club Div 5 singles championship also.  

The Air Force Tennis pool consists of the reigning National champion Thangarajah Dineshkanthan, National Player   Rajeev Rajapakse (both represented Sri Lanka at the recently concluded Davis cup tie against Hong Kong), U Hewacottage (represented Sri Lanka at the Davis cup in the past), K Markandaraja, Joy Beardent, T Nimalraj, S Hariprashanth, T McMillan, Harsha Chandrasiri, S Shiyananth, Group Captain TA Wimalaratne, and Wg Cdr KAC Dias.

The tennis pool is well supported by the Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Harsha Abeywickrema as well as by the Chairman of the Air Force tennis Group Captain Athula Kaluarachchi and by the Secretary of the Air Force tennis Group Captain Amal Wimalaratne. The Air Force tennis teams are coached by Dinith Pathiraja.
