The Defence Services Rowing Championships - 2012 was successfully concluded on the waters of the Bolgoda Lake on 28th August 2012. This year the event was competed amongst all three Armed Forces, with the Sri Lanka Army Rowing team making their debut at the Defence Services Regatta. In addition, the regatta also comprised of four Women’s races which was competed amongst the Sri Lanka Army and the Sri Lanka Navy Rowing teams. Another unique feature of the event was the presence of two Umpires from FISA (World Rowing Federation) to officiate the races together with the local umpires.

The Men’s event was keenly contested with much rivalry and Sportsmanship between the Oarsmen of the three Services. The Sri Lanka Air Force however, proved to be the better of the three teams yet again and was able to defend the 'DEFENCE SERVICES GAMES CHALLENGE TROPHY FOR ROWING - MEN' for the second consecutive year.

Air Vice Marshal PDJ Kumarasiri, Director Aeronautical Engineering of the Sri Lanka Air Force graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and presented the Trophy for the winners and special mementoes to the two FISA Umpires who officiated the events throughout the day.
