No.1 Flying Training Wing Celebrates 61st Formation Day

The Prestigious No.1 Flying
Training Wing (FTW), the cradle of military aviators, of SLAF Academy
China Bay celebrated its 61st formation anniversary on 01 September
2012giving prominence to social, religious and recreational
activities.
The personnel of the No.1 FTW hosted the children of "Revatha" Orphanage to a memorable day providing them with lunch and gift packs. Subsequently financial assistance was also extended for the future development of the orphanage upon a request made to the Commanding Officer of No.1 FTW Sqn Ldr SD Jayaweera by the Superintendent of the orphanage.
Further, a Bodhi Pooja was organized in the evening hours to invoke blessings for the serving personnel of the Wing and for its future endeavours.
A Working Parade and a friendly Cricket tournament for the Staff of the Wing were also held concurrent to the Formation Day on 01 September 2012 with the Commandant of SLAF Academy China Bay Air Commodore SK Pathirana attending the cricket tournament as the Chief Guest.
