Inter Unit Drill And Band Competition 2012

The 5th Inter Unit Drill and Band Competition 2012 successfully concluded today (13th Saptember2012) at the SLAF Base Katunayake Parade Square and defending champions SLAF Base Katunayaka won the Championship of this year. Over 23 teams representing all SLAF establishments took part in the drill competition and SLAF Base Katunayaka, SLAF Base Anuradhapura and SLAF Station Diyathalawa qualified to perform in front of the Chief Guest the Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Harsha Abeywickrama at the finals.
SLAF Base Katunayake team was led by Squadron Leader Seneviratna marched ahead of the other teams to receive the Championship trophy from Air Marshal Harsha Abeywickrama ,SLAF Base Anuradhapura team led by Flying Officer Fernando and SLAF Station Diyathalawa team led by Pilot Officer Herath became second and third respectively.
The Band Competition was also witnessed at this event between two teams (Red Wing and Green Wing) of the SLAF Base Katunayake and Red Wing Military Band won the title whilst Green Wing became the runners up. Before the award ceremony the SLAF Colour Squadron (both men and women) performed a first-class drill display accompanied by the Band of the SLAF Station Diyathalawa.
Members of the Air Force Board of Management , Deputy Director Ground Operation Air Commodore MLK Perera, Katunayaka Base Commander Air Commodore Sumangala Dias, Senior Officers and other ranks of the SLAF were also present at the occasion.
