Airmen Wijerathna Sets a New Record as SLAF win Defence Services Weight Lifting Championship

The Sri Lanka Air Force won the Defence Services weight lifting
championship after earning 30 points in 08 disciplines recently. Airman
Wijerathna competing at this event managed to brake the former national
record of 133 Kg for the Snatch lift in the over 105 weight class,
after lifting 134 Kg. Mean while Airmen Samarasekara set a new Defence
Services record in the over 94 weight class after lifting 161 in the
Clean & Jerk lift.
Airmen Bandara Competing in the over 56 weight class set the games record after lifting a total of 220 Kg (130 Kg in Clean & Jerk and 90 Kg In Snatch lift) whilst becoming the best lifter in the tournament after scoring 3.95 point. The Navy team came 2nd with 27 point and the Army team came 3rd after scoring 13 at the event.
