New Navy Chief Calls on the Commander of the Air Force

The newly appointed Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Jayanath Colombage, paid a courtesy call on the Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Marshal Harsha Abeywickrama, at the Air Force Headquarters this morning (02 October 2012).
Upon arrival at the Air Force Headquarters, the Navy Chief was accorded a Guard of Honour. Thereafter, he was welcomed by the Commander of the Air Force.The two Commanders then held a brief discussion on matters of mutual interest, especially on areas where greater inter-service coordination is required. The Navy Chief, whilst praising the very healthy relations existing between the two services, expressed that he wishes to further strengthen the relations and work closely with the Air Force for the common good of the country. The Commander of the Air Force, in turn, pledged the fullest support of the Air Force to the new Navy Chief in all spheres of joint action during his tenure ahead.
Thereafter, the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Air Vice Marshal Kolitha Gunatilleke, and rest of the members of the Air Force Board of Management were introduced to the new Navy Chief and they extended their best wishes to him for a successful tenure ahead.
At the end of the visit, the two Commanders exchanged mementoes to mark this special occasion and the Navy Chief entered his thoughts in the Visitors Book on his maiden visit to Air Force Headquarters in the capacity of the Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy.
