SLAF Beats Navy Sports Club in First Defence Services Rugby Game
7:49pm on Saturday 7th November 2009
This evening the SLAF beat the Navy Sports Club six points to five from
two penalties against one try in the first of the Defence Services
Rugby matches worked off at the Army Grounds in Colombo. The game was
close but the SLAF prevailed playing an attacking game and defending
well to finally win with a slim margin. The margin though not showing
the grit and commitment of the Airmen, those who witnessed the match
were treated to a class act of hard and fast rugby that is only
witnessed in a Defence services encounter. Suranga Arunashantha did the
honours for the Airmen booting over the two
penalties.
