The Defence services women’s Karate championship was held for the first time in history at the Sri Lanka Air Force Base in door stadium recently (06 November 2009). The event was held in 03 disciplines namely Kumite in under 50, 55, 61 and over 61 weight categories, individual Kata and team kata respectively.

The women from the SLAF managed to lead the points table with 32 points with the SL Navy falling in to 2nd place with 27 points and the SL Army in 3rd place with only a single point.
