Mrs. Neelika Abeywickrama, the Chairperson of the Seva Vanitha Unit of SLAF, participated in the inauguration ceremony of the first Tamil/ English medium pre-school on 15th January 2013. This is the first of its kind opened in the history of the Sri Lanka Air Force and was initiated by the SLAF Unit Batticaloa. The Director Welfare, Air Vice Marshal WA Silva and  Air Commodore MLK Perera were also present at the ceremony. As part of the Nation Building Programe, the Commanding Officer of the SLAF Unit, Wing Commander WMAB Wewegama initiated this community project which was a long unresolved necessity of the area. The enrollment of the first child was done by the Chairperson of the Seva Vanitha Unit Mrs. Neelika Abeywickrama and books and uniforms to the kids of the pre school were also distributed.
