Airmen Win National Bodybuilding Championship
Sri Lanka Air Force participating after 25 years, in the 55th National
Bodybuilding Championship won the overall championship after securing 8
out of 9 weight classes held. The preliminary round of the event was
held at the YMCA Colombo auditorium and Trinity College, Kandy on
November 13 & 14, 2009 respectively.
The
sport of Bodybuilding which had been neglected in the SLAF for a long
period of time, was revived and bought back to existence under the
instructions of the Present Commander Air chief Marshal Roshan
Goonetileke who functions as President of the Air Force Sports Council,
Air Commodore Anura Silva (Chairman SLAF Bodybuilding) and Wing
Commander Senaka Fernandopulle (Secretary SLAF
Bodybuilding).
The Airmen Competed in 9 weight
categories and won 8, inclusive of the Junior National Championship.
